Hello Mr. Bergstein;
My name is Kjell Wooding, and I am one of the founding editors (and contributors) to the weekly Internet serial pintday.org. I am writing to congratulate you on the launch of your latest advertising campaign: Sieze the Day. We at pintday.org have been extolling the virtues of drinking beer with the lads (and ladies) on Tuesdays for over 12 years now, and we knew it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world caught on.
I have noticed, from exploring the Press Releases on your company website, however, that you intend to follow up on the Tuesday advertisement with a series of six other day-themed ads. We would encourage you to drop these advertisements, and focus exclusively on Tuesday. The reason is quite simple: Tuesday is the one day that is in need some serious help.
After all, the rest of the days of the week all have something going for them:
- The weekend is, well, a weekend.
- On Monday, the euphoria of the weekend is still fresh. Though we all dread the thought of returning to our offices, cubicles, and other places of work, we have the whole weekend to steel ourselves against the onslaught.
- Wednesday is hump day. You're up and over the hump, and on the way to the weekend.
- Thursday is the day before Friday. If you find yourself at wit's end on a Thursday, you can always call in sick the next day and treat yourself to a long weekend.
- Friday, well, do I even need to explain?
So you see that, without something to look forward to, Tuesday is a lost day. Twelve years ago, we at pintday.org put our suit-ties and work-boots together and came up with a solution: Pint Day. Drink as many pints as it takes to feel human again, and watch the week's problems melt away. Make it a weekly event, and all of a sudden, you find youself actually looking forward to Tuesdays.
So thank-you for your recognition of Tuesday as a great day for lifting a pint. We here at pintday.org heartily support this campaign, and encourage you to continue your series of Tuesday-themed ads.
