When did it become acceptable business practice not to return phone messages? During the past 24 months I have been privileged to observe with astonishing frequency an inappropriate number of these juvenile tactics.
Those of you keeping score at home will have noticed an uncanny similarity between this week’s rant and one entitled Decency, posted in December.
We could postulate that something approaching an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters has produced two similar rants. In this case however, there was only the one monkey with a single typewriter, who forgot to remove his previously written rant from the in case of publishing emergency queue.
To my credit, I gave the rant another going-over, changed some of the points, and rewrote the conclusion. The piece was always pedestrian at best however, and certainly not worthy of the simian Shakespere reference I just used, but sometimes in a run stretching into its seventh year you just have to mail it in every once and a while.
Welcome to a pd.o first: a rerun.
It won’t be the last.
