The first of two challenging projects situated at the base of the western slope of Halifax’s Citadel Hill, my event services building was largely focused on the development of a modular pre-cast concrete panel system. Following the rigour of the system’s grid resulted in my use of stairs as anti-aliasing elements with which I could turn the corner of the site. Given my desire to emulate the work of the Metabolists for this project, the final form turned out to be curiously iconic. »
