Re·assembly

Ink on mylar drawings of the reuse of sections of steel trusses and concrete floor slabs to create multiple meeting spaces.

In 2002 year the parkade known locally as Tex Park reverted to city control, creating an opportunity to reinvigorate its location on Hollis street. Our studio investigated the possibilities of reassembling its steel and concrete structural system. We had some interesting and involved debates over what would constitute a truly open and accessible public and private meeting space. My contribution, Tex·prime, was oriented toward the complete reuse of all material retrieved from the site: the railings, partitions and envelope were all enumerated and adapted from existing structural pieces.
